Examiners in this field should be afforded specific training and experience under the direct supervision of an experienced and qualified footwear impression examiner. Being qualified as an expert in other forensic disciplines is not, in itself, qualification to conduct examinations between questioned footwear impressions and known shoes. to prevent positive identification of stolen property.įootwear impression examinations should be made by persons who have received additional specialized training and are experienced in that discipline.to hide the origin of items used in the commission of a crime, such as removing the number from a firearm used in a murder.the perpetration of fraud, such as portraying an item to be of a different value when making an insurance claim. The reasons for the removal are varied, and include: Serial numbers are regularly removed from items in order to hide their true identity. However, should a characteristic be less clear or contain fewer features, such as a very tiny hole, more than one characteristic would be needed for identification. If a characteristic such as this were of the same size, shape, position and orientation on both a crime scene impression and a shoe sole of the same design, it could be sufficient alone to permit a positive identification. An example would be a feature generally shaped like an ‘X’ with one stem of the ‘X’ longer than the other, and terminating in a slight curve. In some cases, they are encoded to carry information about the product, such as date of manufacture, model type, etc.identify a shoe, providing the characteristic was sufficiently clear and detailed, and reflected sufficient significant features in common with the scene impression. In most instances, they are simply a sequential number, which describes how many units in a particular production sequence have been produced. They are used to distinguish items from others of a similar appearance. Obviously I have internet connection else I couldn't be posting this.Serial numbers are present on many everyday objects. I went ahead and told it to register now and the Lr message eventually displayed below. And, good news - my Lightroom License was filled out and checked! So I was excited. And so, after posting this I went digging around and found the Help -> Register links. However, in this case I reviewed the Adobe privacy agreements and I have so little personal information that I valued using the software more than my previous concerns. To be honest, prior to this day, I have never registered any of my software products online by submitting my personal information along with the license info because 1) it was not needed to actually use the product and 2) unlike most people it seems nowadays, I actually do concern myself with personal privacy. How do people like myself who want stand alone software ever get our software to work? This is literally $1000 worth of software, I've never spent more out of pocket cash on a suite of products than on Adobe, and now you're making it impossible for us? Basically, I will never be able to wipe this box without spending more $$$ to get the software again? But from what I saw, you can't buy it now even if you wanted to? This makes no sense. But, I can't even BUY this software anymore since you all moved to your CC model. I've been using these products for literally almost a decade, and now I need to wipe my laptop to rebuild it. maybe it was on Amazon - I'll check there next. Furthermore, I downloaded Adobe Lightroom 5 (about 5 years ago), and I see no emails related to the purchase, and also no info about the license key. Regrettably, I have moved literally 6 times in that 8 year period and I can not find my media boxes (which used to have the license keys in them). This software was purchased almost 8 years ago. I am also having this same issue and after speaking with Indian tech support I was directed to come to forums - which doesn't exactly fill me with confidence that a paid tech support person sends me to a free community support system to find answers.
